Training Requirements

In the first year grade, all cadets undergo military training of the same substance, and through lectures and field training they get to understand the purposes and functions of the three services of the SDF. Then, at the end of the first year, the cadets are assigned to the respective services in the following way: 2 to the Ground SDF, 1 to the Maritime SDF and 1 to the Air SDF. These assignments are to be made after careful consideration of the personal desire of each cadet, his aptitude for the particular service and the physical requirements demanded by each services.

Subsequent military training differs according to the service to which the cadets have been assigned, with special consideration given to instilling in them the principle of cooperation with each of the other two services.

Two hours of basic training in the form of field training is to be given each week during the school term. In addition, the cadets are required to undergo six-week regular training course each year.

Besides, all cadets must participate in such training as skiing and swimming. (Total training hours amount to 1,005 hours)
