Mechanical engineering is a discipline of "manufacturing", which is the driving force behind the process of creating various machines all around us, from household electronics to intelligent systems incorporating computers, processing machines which are indispensable for manufacturing, cars which sustain the affluence of everyday life, as well as defense equipment such as tanks and aircrafts which protect the peace and safety of the nation. As a core science and technology field, it plays the important role of developing various high-tech industries.
Mechanical engineering provides integrated training in a variety of fundamental and practical subjects ranging from thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and the mechanics of materials and machines to mechatronics, control regulation, motion systems, and machine materials and processing. By teaching skills related to manufacturing, such as material development, design and production, mechanical engineering furnishes scientific analytical skills and intellectual creativity, and cultivates human resources with rational and flexible thinking.
