I have interested in a structural analysis of polymeric materials using the high-resolution solid-state NMR techniques.
1H spin diffusion :   A tool for detecting the domain size of components in heterogeneous solids.
The intrinsic 1H spin-lattice relaxation rates detected by each functional group of a polymer are averaged out by the 1H spin diffusion phenomenon. Analyzing the 1H spin diffusion rate enables us to detect the heterogeneity.

Polymer Blends -
Interaction, Miscibility, Molecular Motion

Miscibility is one of key words for polymer blends or alloys. In general, it is necessary for a polymer blend to be homogeneous that some exothermic inter-polymer interactions exist. In such a case, the molecular motion of polymers may alter after blending. Solid-state high-resolution NMR analysis enables us to reveal the interaction, miscibility, and molecular motion in polymer alloys.

Organic/Inorganic Nanocomposites -
Morphology, Molecular motion, Interface

Solid state NMR can observe not only carbon or hydrogen but also inorganic elements, so that solid state NMR is one of powerful tools to characterize the nanocomposites. For a nylon6 / montmorillonite nanocomposite, morphology of two distinct crystalline phases has been studied by analyzing the T1H curves taking into account of the paramagnetic effect on 1H spin diffusion.
