Outline of Research

This program collaborates with the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces’ policy simulation and operations research (OR), and the results will be reflected in policy and measures.

Simulations and Operations Research Research Project

We are working on the following projects.

1	Research on Policy Simulation (1) Overview We provide cooperation and support for policy simulations regarding Japan’s defense policy organized by the National Institute for Defense Studies, as well as for operations research related to troop operations and equipment development conducted by the Self-Defense Forces’ research institutions. We analyze issues arising during the defense policy formulation process from a mathematical perspective using operations research (OR) methods to derive optimal solutions, while also exploring future challenges and the direction of security and defense policy.
